Serum Albumin Antifouling Effects of Hydroxypropyl‐Cellulose and Pluronic F127 Adsorbed on Isobutyramide‐Grafted Stellate Silica Nanoparticles

Limiting the serum protein fouling is a major challenge in design of nanoparticles (NPs) for nanomedicine applications. Suitable chemical surface modification strategies allow to limit interactions with adsorbing proteins. In this communication, we address potential isobutyramide (IBAM) groups grafted on stellate silica (STMS) immobilization two biocompatible polymers renown biomedical and low applications: Hydroxypropylcellulose (HPC) Pluronic F127 (PF127). We report that both can be loaded STMS@IBAM NPs maximum loading content close 10 wt %. Regarding their antifouling properties, coatings such HPC or PF127 reduce significantly human albumin (HSA) adsorption average by 70 % as compared free polymer STMS@IBAM. These results highlight these pre-treatments IBAM-modified STMS surface.
